'Speak to Me of Truth'

'Speak to Me of Truth'

A Poem by Frieda P

...and the Raven spoke to the butterfly
            "speak to me of truth"
the reply came humbly,
'who's truth do you want?'
The Raven looked a bit perplexed...
'there is only one truth that does not lie' he muttered.
Butterfly responded, 'perhaps it is as beauty, my clever friend;
'tis in the eye of the beholder'
Once again the flutterby spread her magnificent wings,
"there was a time I was held captive in a suffocating cocoon with no light, now watch me as I brilliantly take flight into the night'
As she fluttered off she left him with this thought to ponder,
'through your keen  Raven eyes, which is  the truth of truths
you wish to find in me?'

Hey if I was the raven I would have had me a tasty snack. Nice, unusual piece with the Freida butterfly returned.

What the heck is up with you guys and eating butterflies?! Thanks Gabriel....
Mmmmm Not a Freida style I am used to but an interesting piece that provokes thought with strange images of a butterfly heading into the night?

Just trying to keep from going stale and also keep you on your toes John. ;-) Thanks!
Very nice. I like the circular argument. It was reminds us/me to be humble in out assertions because truth is changing. Thank you.

Thanks for your insightful review Pryde, muchly appreciated.
"there was a time I was held captive in a suffocating cocoon with no light, now watch me as I brilliantly take flight into the night'...

This line brought a lump to my throat. This is such a wonderful piece, encompassing sorrow, beauty, renewal and wisdom.

Wow thanks Rita, such a loverly review!
Frieda is a poet I know and like, here she shows brillantly how to use punctuation and inwoven quotes, the running entry ....,the use of a question to end the poem. I like this a lot, especially the clever syntax with the verb near the end of a phrase...very well done !

I think I might frame this review, thanks so much Leslie, you're much too kind.
Absolutely freedom of truth and reality. Beauty, indeed is in the eyes of the beholder. That is one of the truths known to every creation. The freedom of truth made the butterfly flutters and testify. The beauty of poetry.

I enjoyed that verse...a lot to ponder...sometimes it is not necessary to tell the truth.:)
