Rivers of Gold

Rivers of Gold

A Poem by gabiaimee
"

one of those nostalgic sorta times....

"
I find myself
floating away
in an ocean of reverie.
To an isle
of recollection
of years that weren't so great.
I wonder again why
I sail these waves
of an unsatisfactory memory.
I discern in the fog
the realization
that I now see from a different state.
From uncharted waters
and unmapped lands
the New World struck as fine.
Each day existed
to be explored
with nothing to compare.
Now I sink
in rivers of gold
in the process of my own mind.
I recall those years
and see the truth
and-for my past- utter a prayer.

Childhood memories can be tuff to deal with if they dark hurtful ones. I carry a lot of painful childhood memories. I like this poem. You've expressed yourself well.
