For Cassidy Joy

For Cassidy Joy

A Poem by Kenneth The Poet
"

A girl committed suicide in the next county due to bullying and it made national news. This is dedication to a girl I didn't know.

"
The tragedy emerged beyond the bounds of Griggs County
The heartaches and tears are plentiful, a thriving bounty

Thousands of people sending forth digital sympathy cards
Even though those on the inside must pick up the shards

Her name was Cassidy Joy, and she was bullied to death
And why she was taunted and tortured is anyone's guess

And in the school systems, it still happens under our nose
In the digitally-enhanced, dog-eat-dog world, anything goes

There are no boundaries, the ethics do not yet exist
Even though our bullying natures still seem to persist

But we can make the choice to keep the beast in check
So we don't create another hopeless soul who's a wreck

Her name was Cassidy Joy, she'll always be remembered
As an eternal flame of hope, a happily glowing ember

Such a tragedy and my heartaches for her family. A beautiful tribute for a child whose soul and heart were crushed and no one could help her, or better yet, maybe no tried. God Bless Cassidy Joy and You for your message that speaks to so many.

This is beautiful. I love the rhyming--it makes sense and it adds a beautiful flow. "And why she was taunted and tortured is anyone's guess"...really liked that line. It is so true.

being someone who also had horrible bullying experiences, this poem really reached out to me, you did a great job at setting the mood... i love the structure as a whole and specially the word choice, great job :)

This is very sad because it seems to happen everywhere and I once was the victim of bullying for I have suppressed my memory and I have forgiven them but still it happens to children everywhere and sometimes it makes you want to shed a tear. Good poem though a wonderful job done :)

A very sad story in your poem. Some people in this world can't take too much abuse and if un-seen or notice. Can end in a suicide. Poor Cassidy Joy is a common story in many places. Children need to feel safe and secure. Not desire to hide away in fear of bullying or any kind of abuse. Thank you for remembering Cassidy Joy.

Kenneth, so many of your pieces seem to have the potential to be short stories. Puting flesh on these bones could produce prose of a hidden short story aficionado.
