CITY A DREAM

 

Crowd everywhere

No breathing space 

Suffocates any human

And nature as well

 

City travel hectic

Peak travel horrible

Hanging with no balance

Like a c**k with folded leg

 

Yet, life in city

Every one’s dream

Rich and poor

Just make a home

 

At times mind reflect

Peeping out from balcony

Many floors high

Away from busy hums

 

Floor has couple of flats

Just don’t know

Who is who living

In others flats

 

Young couple next door

I see them some time

Lift walk-in or walk-out

Exchanging quickie smiles

 

Sometime another lady

Walking along her young one

In a hurry catch school bus

Mind busy on day ahead

 

An old man I see

Routine, twice a day

Mornings fetching milk

Evenings on his dog walks

 

We know not

Neighbor living next door

Afraid they might know

How we live or don’t

 

We stretch across world

To know one and all

Yet don’t even know

The one next door

Flats are like matchboxes

Ants move-in-out

Not living like humans

Bringing meaning to life  

 

You will have guests

From many places

Even abroad

Ever invited one next door

You said a mouthful here. With so many using the internet and making friends across the oceans, people tend to ignore the neighborhood in which they live...the people who walk the same streets they do and shop in the same stores. Very intuitive piece here. Lydia
