100 Miles too Far

100 Miles too Far

A Poem by Ironbutt
"

Ever get told you're heading down the wrong road? How about when you already traveled it 100 miles.....

"
" A man can wipe his boots a dozen times before he enters sterile grounds... but the eyes will tell where hes been." Ironbutt.
Gonna be a 80 proof night my friend..
got a journey in my head that's got to end..
gonna drop these letters in this fire tonight..
done fighting the demons..gonna set it right...
made a promise so long ago..
tried keeping it..so many roads..
sorry my friend..no address like you gave..
no one to tell  all the lives you saved..
including mine...
so many times...
Gonna be a stare into the fire night..
how I wish I could have stopped my pride..
could of just let it go..
replay the memory of you two...
walking out the door.....
over and over again.....
Gonna be a long, long walk..
100 miles the wrong way ..
in the dark...
could of sat with you ..sober you up..
instead...I get a midnight call ...
what the ......
Heading down the wrong road they say...
ya.. seems like 100 miles too late.....
