For Matt

For Matt

A Poem by Heather D
"

For those of you who maybe haven't noticed, most of these seem to be written towards one particular green-eyed person. This is about how we met and the beginning of our relationship when we were 17.

"

That cool autumn morning, me and you,
You gave me a ride, something new.
We were just friends, nothing more.
But when we got to school and I opened the door,
I turned back to you, to thank you for the ride,
And when the sun hit your green eyes, something new inside.
Butterflies in my stomach, my heart skips a beat.
And I got these insane shudders from my head to my feet.
Later I came to find some fabulous news,
You had these same feelings, you cared for me too.
You asked me out, said could we be together?
I said yes, I'd been waiting forever.
And then our first kiss, that cold rainy night,
We stood outside, you holding me tight.
Your lips to mine, my knees went weak.
And my stomach turned over when your hand brushed my cheek.
And we have been together for a few months now.
We are great for each other, perfect, no doubt.
You taught me something amazing, some people can be trusted.
Something I had lost, for my heart has been busted.
But you pieced it back together, every broken sliver.
And every kiss between us still gives me shivers.
So I'll end by saying how truly happy I am,
I'm so glad I found you, my love and best friend.
