Staring up

Staring up

A Poem by Jack...
"

Oh the shapes we see

"

Staring up

By jack

We see ripples in the sky

Of rose bud hips and saffron pie

Mountains carved of blessings shown

On avenues that stand alone

Cotton threaded evenings stare

Spun with love and open air

Flowing near the velvet sun

Twisting candy coated fun

Elephants with diamond smiles

Kaleidoscopic crocodiles

Pirate ships with popcorn sails

Riding on the backs of whales

Trumpets in a soft embrace

A long forgotten laughing face

An evil wizard casting spells

Santa Claus with jingle bells

A locomotive full of steam

Floating down a soapy stream

Rocket ships in underwear

Grandma’s wooden rocking chair

A Ferris wheel of bursting glow

Atop a sled upon the snow

Once again the pictures change

As what we see is rearranged

So many different things we see

Lying here, just you and me

Far from all the noisy crowds

Staring up at floating clouds

Pointing out the shapes we find

Pictures formed within our minds

There’s nothing else I’d rather do

Than stare up at the clouds with you

As a child I used to lay in the grass and stare up at the clouds with friends and pick out the diffe.. read more
Has that sweet taste attached to it, staring up the sky our imagination can brake all of our limits with only one condition don't grow up...love it

Thanks, just having a little fun.
"Elephants with diamond smiles
Kaleidoscopic crocodiles
Pirate ships with popcorn sails
Riding on the backs of whales" You know, the way you write your poetry reminds me of the singer/lyricist of the red hot chilli peppers, Anthony Keidis, your both almost cryptic, but poetic and everything you write, no matter what it is, turns out to be beautiful.

'Pirate ships with popcorn sails
Riding on the backs of whales'

nothing is more poetic to me than a blue sky with a few clouds, don't know why. i liked some of the lines here especially from the third stanza, great escape...fantastic.

This is a more child-like, docile poem of yours. Nicely done.
