Empty fingers

Empty fingers

A Poem by Jack...

Empty fingers

Black on white

Scores in three quarter sadness

Sharps and flats beneath heartbeats

Dust and cobweb mosaics

glistening in the key of pain

Scaled deposits wait

lonely in the corner

Replaying adagio chords of lost love,

composed in notes

on yellowed decaying paper

Tuning key locked away,

Forte expressions shackled

in sustain pedal nightmares

of faux concertos worn

in overture’d blistered edges

as empty fingers play on

lonely and lovely and melancholy - next to violins I think pianos cry best...and this poem brings that to life. Always wanted to learn to play piano because it evokes such emotion but I can only run one hand at time (played trumpet and a little bagpipe.) adagio chords of lost love ...strikingly beautiful too.

How apropos for you to write this Jack, you play luverly music to the beat of even lovelier poetry, this is just perfect. I love everything about it, 'empty fingers' says so much. Keep creating your wonderful music, whether it be poetry or composing another piano piece, I'l be swooning to the tune of either.

Thank you so very much Debbie.
Wonderful! Loved the musical terms you used throughout the poem. So very poignant. The metaphor is splendid as is the imagery. Lydi**

Thank you so much my sweet friend. I always love the melody of your reviews.
I absolutely adore this Jack...the musical thread beneath the melancholy is inspiring...music is the soul release for most and conveying that gives this all the more power...just elegantly emotive! xx
