My Book of Shadows

Written for the Rhyme It! contest and I'm actually pretty impressed with it since it was written on the spot! <3

A journal wrapped in leather, with a sturdy lock of gold.

A pair of weathered keys unlock it, which only I shall hold.

Inside, it holds my secrets, my lifetime dreams and fears.

It holds my happy moments and my heartbreak through the years.

The passages can make me laugh, and also make me cry.

The memories of fond hellos, and also sad goodbyes.

It stays beneath my mattress, where find it, no one can.

A cache that's just so common, but still so high in demand.

As days go by, as distance grows, as time keeps us apart.

I hide my worries in my mind; my book of shadows hides my heart.

This reminds me of a character from a mystery I'm trying to write, especially the first 4 verses. I myself, can also appreciate this, we all have our "Book of shadows". Some more dark than others,..I had some where I was going with this... I like using my "Book of shadows" in my writing, then my no one will know if my darkness is made up or not. or things i/ we have experienced.

it realy adds to the effect of the writing... I simply loved it
