Death's EmbraceA Poem by Jade MayhewAnother Brit Lit poem.I cannot stop the sunset when 'tis night. The looks of it still can't compare to thee. Though like the darkness, thou hast put up a fight, The nighttime conquers all, despite my plea. The fire that once danced within thine eyes Is now just paling embers in the dark. I feel thy warmth receding, hear thy cries, But am helpless as I watch thy fading spark. Thy drooping lids betray the strength thy heart shows. With tearful eyes, I watch thee sleep once more. I shan't awake thee from thy fitful doze. Thy time alive is but days anymore. But I'll love thee until thy dying breath. Until I see thee in the arms of Death. ♥ © 2019 Jade Mayhew |
