You Took Away My Pain

You Took Away My Pain

A Poem by Jade Mayhew

Verse:
One look into your eyes,
And I can see
Just where I'm meant to be.
A vision of perfection,
Just me and you
Living out our happy ending.
You tell me that I'm wrong,
That time will show
What I'll learn and what you know.

Chorus:
You say that it's so wrong for you
To lead me on much longer,
That all the pain I'm going through
Will only make me stronger.
But call me weak, I just want you,
My sunshine through the rain.
I just can't take this;
You took away my pain.

Verse:
I feel my poor heart break.
How can this be?
How could you do this to me?
I thought you said forever,
That you loved me
And that you’d leave me never.
You tell me you were wrong,
That the fighting
Always leaves us hurt and crying.

[Repeat Chorus]

Bridge:
You might’ve broke my heart,
But I’m sure I’ll move along.
I can’t stand to be apart;
Just one day is just too long.
Take back the words you said;
Take me back into your world.
You turned my blue eyes red,
But you still call me your girl.

I say that it was wrong of you
To make me think you loved me,
And all this pain, I’ll make it through.
In time, I will be happy.
But through it all, I still want you,
My sunshine through the rain.
I just can’t take this;
You took away my pain.
I just can’t take this;
You took away my pain.
