A Life Given

I read an article about childbirth mortality in Afghanistan...one mother dies every 27 minutes during childbirth. In remote areas 6000 in every 100000 births result in the death of the mother. The figure in the West is 9 in 100000.

 

One life given

 

Another life taken

 

Both belong to me

 

The taken; irreplaceable, a gaping wound to never heal

 

Forever to seep bitterness and tears on your pillow

 

The given; my son, our son, a gift from God, a curse from hell

 

He is you and I am him
