True To Yourself

True To Yourself

A Poem by Riley Bray
"

In this murky river of tarnished dreams, I have found something pure.

"
Straining to hear something
Hidden in this broken dream
Hoping for a light I think I'll never see
Just a hand to pull me on my feet.

Nothing is forever
Unless we let it be
You and I together
We could change history.
Just open your eyes and see
Just open them and believe
And we'll be free.

I see a hand stretched out to me
Misty fingers glittering
Lifted from my reverie
To see a face smiling down at me.

You say
Nothing is forever
Unless we let it be
You and I together
We could change history.
Just open your eyes and see
Just open them and believe
And we'll be free.

Never
Ever
In a million nightmares
Not in a billion waking moments
Or a trillion wistful melodies
Have I felt this warm bonfire
This sensation of rising higher
And higher
And higher...

And now I know
Nothing is forever
Unless we let it be
You and I together
We could change history.
Just open your eyes and see
Just open them and believe
And we'll be free.

This isn't customary
At least its not for me
I'm floating on a dream
And you are all I see.
You take all focus when I think
And you are the breath in me
And I promise you as you promised me
That if you ever fall in too deep
Just look and see
And now that nothing is forever
Unless we let it be.
