Below The Horizon Line

Below The Horizon Line

A Poem by Audrey Bruckner

Soon standing motionless

with nothing to hold onto but the lies

gazing blankly down echo filled corridors

moments left broken, yet untouched by change

listening to the monotonous clock

ticking down to forever

I turn around, praising the past

scar tissue building and building

options fading

like millions of sparks from a firework

raining, blue all around, craving

hoping only for the instant

the instant on to which i can hold, always

just a fleeting moment to wrap my arms around

and call home
