Old songs

Sitting here,

  reading a book.

Put on some music to give some background noise.

Just a few old tunes,

  but they have an effect.

Each one is remembered.

They are mostly happy memories.

Good times shared with friends.

Time has moved along,

  and some of those friends have also.

Gone too soon.

I listen to a song,

  and see a face.

I still see the smile.

Music often moves me in this way. I can remember the moment vividly -- holding hands with a boy at the roller rink when I was twelve when I hear Human League "Don't you want me", for example, that's what this made me think of. Thank you.:)

Bit earlier than that, and I was at least 15, grabbed, and dragged out to the dance floor. The girl heard the start of an Air Supply song, and was about to break into tears. She said she just had to dance.
