how I wonder

how I wonder

A Poem by AKhaus

I sit in the dark watching the light reflect off the walls and she whispers into my ear - "you don't need to be afraid".
How I wonder and how I pray that when the light finds me that soul will not fade away.
She hangs on the walls and she hides in my mind.
In the summer day she is the butterfly with brightest colors of the day.
In the winter she is the red meat which my lips hunger to keep such cold things at bay.
The fall leaves cover her with yellow and reds as she swirls into the fires.
The spring births forward her beauty with flowers, rains and man's holy spires.
I waste away as the years wear on my bones, but she is the solstice and the nova which ignites within my blood.
She is a song, a perfect melody.
I hope to hear her whisper in my sleep.
