Angie

Angie

A Poem by Pointblank

He kissed her goodbye,“See you tonight.”

The emergency call

Panic, Prayers, Fright.

He raced to see her. She was all but gone.

The aneurism will take her. The night would be long.

Call her parents, kids and friends.

They won’t believe either, that this is the end.

So young and vibrant, needed and loved.

What is he thinking....God above.

Hearts are empty

Minds are blank

Plans to make

No money in the bank

“I can’t do this.”

Yes you can

You’re her man,You are strong

We are here to support you

We’ll help you along

There is a lesson here

Somewhere it is written

She wants you to go on

Even though she is missing.

I have a minor nitpick to begin, if I may be so bold and if it will not detract from the rest of what I will say. It is hard to read some of the lighter colored text on the white background for me. It broke the flow, as I squinted to read what was being written.

It does a good job of taking an event, then flooding us with the emotions and thoughts that would surely follow; and then reaching that point of stoicism where reality is what it is.

This is much like my life except my wife hasn't died. She became disabled. Changed our marraige drastically. It is a hard thing to go through. I can't imagine what it would be like to actually lose her. A good, angst-filled write here. Well done and thought provoking.
