Winding Leads

Winding Leads

A Poem by Laura E. Aranda

Front yard with long gravel dirt driveway

Seen the road

Where does it lead

To fortunes untold

My curiousity grows indeed

I would stay if I weren't so bold

Happiness is around the bend

Do others think that of mine too

My feet I long to send

Past the brooks and the blue

So many things I have to tend

Just an ordinary road

Like any other I hate to think

Filled with mud, cars and maybe a toad

If I watch and barely blink

Normal people here do abode

Though I wish for miracles this May

Perfection is not just around the way

This is an interesting work, in the sense that you take us along the process of staying or going. There is the going, the not going, the wishing to go, too much to be done so stay; as you give us that glimpse of the winding way. What struck me most true, was how it ended (though it was not really an end to it, just where it stopped for no). There was no magic wand waved and everything became some fairy tale ending. No, it was the recognition that though you hope for miracles - you realize it will not be perfect. Many people get caught up in hoping for miracles but give into the fear that it will not be perfect, and thus they will stagnate where they are - caught in their rut - caught in their muck. It is with the acceptance that it will not be perfect, that one might finally take that first step... back on the road of life. Of course, I have been drinking diet Pepsi instead of diet Dew; and my thought pattern may well be off because of that.. I am such a diet Dew addict.

it flows well and the imagery is beautiful, you create that moment i've never been able to capture "My feet I long to send ... So many things I have to tend" I hold a particular fondess for these lines, been there so often especially with fall here. great works.
