Preventions

Preventions

A Poem by Leah Mayes

sharp penetration

of former obligations

deny us the pass

to new destinations

sensations..

binding essence

with harsh reality

stuffing rhyme and reason

into a box of formality

duality..

of conflict

and harmonious rights

confusing a verdict

of predestined sight

this plight..

this test

of strength and endurance

like fire to earth

is a natural occurrence

performance..

of a curious

and divine intention

I should have known

passion held no preventions
