Always the Clown

Always the Clown

A Poem by Linear
"

Just me trying to write

"
Though I write you will probably
never see what you meant to me
all you saw where
the tips of icebergs

Even if you looked would you see me
the love I held inside
just for you
but you only saw the plant and not the root

In those years
we were seldom apart
we loved free
yet you only saw the blossom not the tree

And now that time has passed by
I still think of you so much
though I saw you and all that you could be

You Amazed me
I saw the woman not the girl
the smile never the frown
a blind man in love

The fool
always the clown
I wish you had seen me
and all that I could have been

wonderful ~ emotional depth ~ of what one sees and another shows....the lines were profound and simple - "yet you only saw the blossom not the tree" - this is important...we neglect to recognize the root of love and only praise the superficial and short lived blossom - yet in the winter when its cold - love is still alive but left abandoned....this is what i felt through this write - thank you for sharing -

This is good. I love the metaphors, plant root blossom tree... love the last verse. It's a write that will resonate with many.

When we look back. Always the regret that we didn't listen more. Did more things together with our lost lovers. I like this poem. Few are wise in love. A wise person will insure their mate is content and have time to spend with. A excellent poem. Thank you.

It's sad that people don't get to know other people past surface value....this is an emotional well written piece ...

This IS a love poem ;)

From the first line, I felt such a sorrowful longing... a wishing for what could have been. You reveal the depth of a loving heart that simply couldn't be seen beneath the surface of life.

'.. but you only saw the plant and not the root ..'

There are such touching phrases in your poem, metaphors used wisely and with sweet beauty. We should each be seen for what we are inside = the outside is nothing but shape; perhaps we need to be savoured like a poem - examined carefully, then learned and fully appreciated.

You write with a gentle touch, format elegantly, it's a pleasure to read you.

Beautiful and sad..it's so often that way...people only see the fruit but not the fruit tree.

You have some good phrases in here that perfectly express this piece...this has depth of emotion...love is blind and it is hard even in the best situations...great piece...
