A little bit longer

A little bit longer

A Poem by Joy

People say that if they went back,

They wouldn’t change a thing.

They wouldn’t change because they like where they are,

They’re scared to change the familiar.

But I would.

I would change a thing.

I would go back,

Go back and listen,

Look,

And feel.

I would go back and see that girl sitting alone,

That boy picked last for everything,

The kid that no one wanted to work with,

Because they were different,

They weren't familiar,

They were the kids that no one loved,

The outcasts that would stay outcasts.

I would walk up to that little girl all alone on the bench

And tell her,

“Baby, you’ll be ok.

You’re beautiful.

Don’t listen to the words that they fill your mind with.

Don’t fill your mind with your own self hate.

Don’t let those scars be your only story,

Because you Baby,

You will do great things.”

And if she asks me why,

I’ll tell her,

“Because I was once you.

I was once trapped by the words that filled my ears,

My mind,

And my mouth.

Words kill,

But these words won’t be the end of you.

Just hold your head up a little bit longer.

Just a little bit longer...”

yeah....really nice experience to read.
I was there and thinking about every moment that came rushing back into my mind.
very nice and I feel for you....if that's your story.
I wouldn't choose to live again but your words brought back a past that helps me understand why I feel like this.
it made me content to be who I am and happy that one day I won't be me anymore.
nice work.
