There is

There is

A Poem by Lysrie Mendez
"

About my dear mommy.

"

There’s an eloquent way

An aura that a person of moral gives off

There’s a scabbing of layers

That begins with a fall and ends with a medicinal kiss

There’s a non-hesitant release

Whether it be of time or of dreams

There’s a speeding ticket of endurance

Driven to the maximum, you keep a smile

There’s a vast universe devoured by the color red and chocolate

There’s a secured lock

Not simply a trivial ten letter word

And you threw away 3 different keys

There’s a body builder, a fighter with an extreme sense of empathy

You dodge, not punch

There’s a flashing of pearls in a moment of falling waters

And goo

There’s a shuffling of papers, of taunting questions and endless investigation

And it’s all for me

There’s a raise of a fist in the victory of another

There’s a lack of plastic film sheet on the box you came out of

An authentic character

But sometimes I forget about the delicacy of a china doll

Because sometimes reflections see each other

And we clash in the only way that too similar of colors can

But we’re too close on the spectrum to ever be apart

So today I will be your there is

There is smile in a straight line that is often misread

There is a vast universe of red and chocolates

There is an open book of revealing things

That shouldn’t always be revealed

But also there is a sugar coat

But a sweet one

There is an extra pair of hands

There’s an ear, wide and bare with no mind only a conscience

There’s a flash of mini pearls you created yourself

And one day I hope to be the authentic character

Not necessarily to children but to everyone I meet

Because so far you are the only one
