Silence

Silence

A Poem by Meliss@k
"

A poem I wrote when I was dating my first boyfriend. This was a long distance relationship, and it felt like every time we hung out it was already time for one of us to leave again.

"
Memories of you flow in and out of me like a never ending river. Your gentle touch lives in my veins and circulates throughout my entire being.
I sit in silence.
Couples walk by, holding one another, in a clasp that will never be broken.
They are all so happy and complete, like a united puzzle, piece for piece.
I sit in silence.
The beating of the drum inside my chest is unsteady, not knowing what spontaneous thing you will do next.
My hands shiver in cold, calling for you, like a baby bird alone in a nest.
I sit in silence.
As the autumn breeze stings my skin, reminding me of your warm hug,
Always giving me shelter,
The scent of flowers and fresh green grass softly sails past.
I wait for you at last.
Bird's songs echo off of the old oak trees surrounding me; an angelic sound
Flying all around.
Footsteps come closer and closer; a familiar stride that I recognize more as it gets nearer.
The bench is unbalanced until you sit beside me. I turn to your face and you greet me with a loving smile. My empty hand feels weightless, like a light feather, as you take it and place it into your own. Your left arm automatically reaches around and pulls me in toward your warm embrace. The smell of your cologne to my skin; a fragrance I wish I could wear everyday. Your eyes beckon me to never turn away, and the hair on my neck gets magical chills, as I stare into your handsome gaze.
All seems quiet around us,
The world stops,
and the rhythm of your thumping chest enters my ears.
You glance at the small moving hands, ticking, on your wrist. Tapping the glass twice, you hope they're incorrect.
My heart sinks, while the kiss on my lips stands up from our bench, and begins to walk away. The heavenly grip around my body loosens, as my whole self quietly cries inside, praying for you so stay.
Although it seems you have just arrived, it's already time to go.
Those footsteps begin to fade away into the horizon, unknown.
I sit in silence.
What was just the present is now the past; a newly made memory to hold close,
As i slip into a love struck trance.
I sit in silence once again, carrying the love that everyone wants,
In the end.

you're welcome :)
Someone has described the language of love as
a gentle smile, a nod of the head , or
a touch.
You have gone a step further and tell us what love
is like when you are describing the interval after he
left.
Perhaps true love is indescribable---- Think ?
As usual you have writtem a wimning essay on the
subject of the language of love.
Thank you---- I have learned from this.
