Ember

Ember

A Poem by Debbie
"

Lost love

"

I have no illusions, expectations or delusions
That the fire we had before
Could ignite and burn once more
But beneath the cold, gray ash
Lies an ember from the past
And that tiny, red-hot coal
Is imbedded in my soul

Where can I find passion like before?
Where will I find one who loves me more?
To be able to breathe in again
The ocean smell of your warm skin
Your arm around me; your warm caress
Experiencing your gentleness
Your strong hand gripping mine
Will by my memory throughout time

Years may blur the history
But they can’t erase the mystery
Of memories inside my skin
That long to feel your touch again
