To Live

A Story by J. R.

Get in the box
Learn to love this great country
Watch a summer blockbuster
Work in your box everyday
Do not look at the crows
Learn to play the guitar
Make the children laugh
Focus on the bouncing ball
Decorate your box
Think about last year's party
Watch out for foreigners
Clean the walls of your basement
Stay in your box
I told you not to look at the crows
Build a nest
Live in constant anxiety
Write in your blog about kittens
Visit your friend's box
Wear a flannel shirt, they're trendy
Appreciate good romance novels
Change your attitude
Do not leave your box again
Collect animal bones
Turn down the volume
Bring home a stereo
Collect more animal bones
You are safe in your box
Think about what's really gone wrong
Imagine bigger and better things
Never leave your box for long
Replace your name with a symbol
Fear the invisible monsters
Dream of a love that can never be
Enjoy the comfort of your box
Remember every name
Have yourself a drink
Arrange the cards just so
Write songs about your box
We know what you've done
Only look on the bright side
You can't hide from us

um.... a box? lol.

I'd say it pretty much sums it up. The form it's written in adds to the monotonous, lack of choices and socially approved interests and practices..

Even as clearly as you've written it, it's always amazing how that mainstream society doesn't really care.
