amelies poem

A Poem by Sarah

I speak the words of love, but they escape me when you are near,

Silence is my bestfriend, so that is what you shall hear.

The ice that surrounds my heart, protects me from pain,

But the consequence of that ice, is that you shall be maimed.

My hair is like snow, my eyes like diamonds; both cold,

But look behind my fragile cage, and there will be a mind; so old.

Time has dealt me a poor hand, destroying all I love,

Sad, that the one's who deserve sorrow less, are the ones who fly like doves.

In my small kingdom, I found my love, Sam,

But sadly and harshly, I cast him away, as if I cared not a damn.

Tarry a moment, your suspitions are false, I couldn't not care,

For the love you show me is so sweet, that it heals my hearts tears.

Samuel, my love, I say this to you,

For now I know, our love is true.

This poem seems to express the regret of someone who has reached the last cycle of their life, and now looks back in regret at the people she threw aside. The reference to "white hair". The rhyming did come of a tad bit forced to me. But I sill enjoyed the images you conveyed and the read :)

True love......not contaminated by all the bells and whistles of our society.
This is sweet work, written with class.
