War

War

A Poem by Breanna Ragland

There's a war inside this heart of mine.
A fight not over just yet.
A girl that's dying to let you know,
There might be a little love left.
But these warring sides, they tear me up.
And tell me its time to give in.
I fight and battle and kill for you,
But it's never enough to win.
Like always, the war will come to an end,
But never fast enough for me.
The fight may die and the blood may dry,
But the nightmares will never cease.
I wish they felt the pain I do.
The hurt and tears too.
I just wish they knew what its like to be
Someone who doesn't have you.
But no one will ever know the things
That happened upon that field.
The death, the fire, the pain and hell...
The secrets never revealed.
There's a war inside this heart of mine,
That has slowly come to an end.
And while the smile returns to my face,
I wait for the next war to begin.
