Military Man

Military Man

A Poem by Breanna Ragland

I can only imagine
It started with a dream.
A young man waiting to enlist.
The thought of serving your country
With all that you had.
The respect,
The honor.
The mere thought of freedom.
Coursing in your veins.
You couldn't wait for eighteen.
And then it all became real.
Almost... too real.
But you never let it break you
You were strong...
Headstrong,
And willing.
You would die for those
Who wouldn't do the same.
All in the name of freedom.
And even still,
I admire you.
Your courage and strength,
To do what is right,
regardless of the price.
I'm as proud as any mother,
As happy as any father,
And as destroyed as any heart could be...
Because I'm in love with you, Military Man.
Down to the very fiber of life.
I see what others can't,
And I embrace it.
You are strong, Military Man.
You are brave, Military Man.
And I love you Military Man.
But your heart isn't mine, Military Man.

Expresses your love and admiration for Military Man perfectly.
You have also expressed your sorrow for not getting the heart of Military Man.
Great work indeed.
