I am Me

I am Me

A Poem by randomhope09

Sure, go ahead, say what you will,
Say my life possesses no obvious thrills.
Say I am boring and will become an old maid,
Say the few successes I've had will surely fade.

Say that my size will never be normal,
Say this is why I don't look good at a formal.
Say my hair is too curly and the frizz never ends,
Say my stubborn will never will bend.

Say my job does not ever pay me enough,
Say the callouses on my hands are too tough.
Say there is nothing about me that truly stands out,
Say it all, but you will never see me pout.

Because I know, in my heart, this to be true,
I will always be who I AM in spite of you!!!

Like your style here. Rhythm and rhyme scheme is wonderful as well.
Loved your last stanza the best. So true, no one can anyone, better
off staying who we are. Well written and expressed.
