Affectionate

Affectionate

A Poem by Glee

A stunning beauty

An innocent smile

A magnificent glee

Oh baby,

Your infectious smile

Lights up the gloom inside

Brightening up the room

Whirling the flowers to bloom

While all it took was to groom

Hurting?

A show of affection is all you’ll need

To make everything better

And make all the pain go away

Baby, you’re back again

Now look at you!

While you’re around

Everything gets so affectionate

Can’t help but be so compassionate

How could this feel so appropriate!

Can’t believe we could be so fortunate!

Baby, you’re gone

But when you’re around

Smiles and laughter start to unfold

Your tender voice

Rings up the bells inside

Ding Dong Ding Dong

Everything gets so affectionate

Can’t help but be so compassionate

How could this feel so appropriate!

Can’t believe we could be so fortunate!

Putting your trust in me

Unraveling all your secrets

As you unravel mine

Can’t help but release all the confessions

And all it took was a little communication

All set in conversation

Loving without condition

Baby, when you’re around

Your infectious smile

Lights up the gloom inside

Brightening up the room

Whirling the flowers to bloom

While all it took was to groom

Baby, you’re gone

But when you’re around

Everything gets so affectionate

Can’t help but be so compassionate

How could this feel so appropriate!

Can’t believe we could be so fortunate!

Doing anything for me

Doing anything for you

Being close to you is more than I could ask for

For what is mine is yours

And what is yours is mine

For you were

A friend

A listener

A companion

A partner

If only I could reach out

Touch you

Feel you

Love you

But no!

Would that not ruin everything?

The innocence of our friendship

The sanctity of our partnership

Oh no!

Being close to you is more than I could ask for

Knowing you is more than I could want

And when the nights turn cold

The days get hot

The roads get rough

The going gets tough

And the world turns blue

Just promise me

That you will be there for me

As I will be for you

there are beautiful lonely lyrical moments in this one - it reads very much like a song. Nicely done.
