Peter's Final Letter to Jesus

Peter's Final Letter to Jesus

A Poem by LightforChrist

Dear Jesus,

My beloved companion and friend

I know that your life will soon come to an end

You have taught me how to be strong and have made me new

Your impact on this land is quite impressive too

Even though my faith has faltered over the years,

You have always been there to wipe away my tears

On the sea, when you took me by the hand

I knew that I could always count on you to be my best friend

I will do whatever you ask of me, whether it is easy or not

Any fear that I could behold, you have already fought

You have taught this world full of greed and sorrow

That if they believe in You, there will be a beautiful tomorrow

While spreading your word, I will always tell the truth

And teach those who are old or still in their youth

I will teach them to have the courage never to give up

For You will never leave them even when times are rough

Jesus, my dearest companion and friend,

I will be by your side until the very end

Your bride will always be safe with me

And I promise to never lose your golden keys

Fate once forced me to deny my faith in you

But I now stand as your disciple faithful and true

Ready to defend your name again and again

Truly becoming your very first fisher of men

Forever yours,

Peter
