For mom

Summer breeze kissed away your tears

I watched for what seemed like hours

inquiring of the hummingbirds

questioning all the flowers

conversing with the lilacs

to the orchids I confessed

I held a butterfly in my palm

and prayed you might be blessed

I deliberated with the Susan's

reflected on the rose

I wanted to tell you how I felt

but somehow my words froze

I cried to the hydrangeas

among the daffodils I stood

telling secrets to forget-me-not s

and wondering if you would

A lovely bittersweet read. I love that iti is open to multiple interpretations. In my case reading it I visualized a cemetary in the Bronx whre I have stood trying to say things to my father but I could just as easily imagine peole thinking about nursing homes or the homes they grew up in. We all have those things we need to say but somehow cannot.

A poignant and loving tribute to your Mom. Well done! It is so hard on the mind and body, caring for an elderly parent. Remember to take care of yourself as well.

Hi Shalimar Rose... I think it should be us thanking you for writing such a wonderful poetic tribute to your mother.... these are very moving lines, I could feel the plea..."I cried to the hydrangeas

among the daffodils I stood

telling secrets to forget-me-not s

and wondering if you would"
My mother just overcame a very close call with death a few months back. She is better now, but it was touch and go.. your words touched a cord...

Still, remember this time.... as My mom lingered in that limbo for 14 yrs and just passed last year at this time...that was the last 7 yrs when my Dad was there and the last 5 after he passed....soon enough it will be all you have of her...say it all to her now..perhaps it still plays inside her mind as a movie reel..?Laury

I doubt we ever forget the ones we love, even when it seems like we can't even remember oursleves.

I know somewhere we will still be there. thank you again sweet Jack..
There is such beauty in your descriptions of nature:

questioning all the flowers

conversing with the lilacs
to the orchids I confessed
I held a butterfly in my palm
and prayed you might be blessed
I deliberated with the Susan's
reflected on the rose

I think as we age we realize some questions simply do not have answers.

This was so lovely, Rose.

I wanted to tell you how I felt
but somehow my words froze
I cried to the hydrangeas
among the daffodils I stood
telling secrets to forget-me-not s
and wondering if you would

A very heartfelt write, and I felt it all in your words. Xx
