Apes Are Us And We Are They

Apes Are Us And We Are They

A Poem by Skib
"

We (As Humans) sometimes stake claim to things that are for everyone to share and enjoy. They (As "Animals") are sometimes over-looked as just that. We all have to remember that we too are the animal.

"
Apes are us
and we are they
perhaps we only commune
in a different way?

I've witnessed the human
play the beast
but the animal I still
dislike the least

The Simian, typically,
will protect and thrive
whilst Homo-Sapien moans
about being alive

The Monkey we'd shoot
and brandish a liar
and there are those
we wouldn't piss on
if they were on fire....or perhaps that's just me?

They enjoy the food
but not the captivity
like us they're people
unlike them we are the toxicity

However in my jungle
concrete or turf
Monkeys are irrefutably and always
like us, children of earth.

Munkie is the funniest word in the English language - go on say it out loud - 'Munkie' - and I bet you just laugh!
The whole of nature has something to teach us - though we think we know it all.
This is a magical piece about the symbiotic relationship we all have and the implied accompanying responsibilities that go with being head of the food chain.
Well written Skib.
