metaphorical rain

metaphorical rain

A Poem by Ethan Mariner

Handing out umbrellas in the metaphorical rain,
smiling at the wind that blisters my skin,
passing out Advil for the metaphorical pain,
and laughing at the water coursing down my chin

Passing out flashlights in the metaphorical dark
grinning at the chair where I stubbed my toe,
Handing out tickets for the metaphorical ark,
and singing as I'm sucked in the undertow

Note to self: in all this metaphorical storm
as you give time to help and heal,
follow your own metaphorical DeLorme
and know that God is really real.

:) loved it :) especially the "note to self" and "God is really real" things :):). we're all some sort of Noahs with our own personal deluges :). nicely written.

Tolkien and Lewis once remarked that in order to have the books they wanted to read, they would have to write them. I love old books. I have a hard time finding--and loving--new ones. Maybe I can f.. more..
