The Tempest

The Tempest

A Poem by storm_lover
"

Honestly? I'm not even sure what this means...maybe you guys will have some insight?

"

Darkness swirling through the tempest

Flighty angels refuse to stay

In this place

This place of fire

Where love and life come to die

Death times and tragic days

Frightened lovers and deathly sighs

Brightened eyes and darkened skies

Lifeless lies come to stay

Forget not who you are

Tell not who I am

Remind others of the truth

Come to understand

To me, this seems to be a metaphor for current events--Looming war, bad ecomomy, curruption, global warming...What angel has enough confidence in matters like this to hang around while the devil has set-up shop. Last line seems a bit forced in order to fit in. But I would agree this is very dark.

it definitely has a "tempest" feel to it. Large archetypes whipping by. Nice meter to it, I keep going back to the first stanza, maybe recapitulate it as a fourth stanza somehow...

Well, here goes.
The first two verses mean, I think, that there is a place where life and love are not, but only death and lies. Where the last verse ties in I don't know. It could have been left off, and still the poem would have been complete.
