For my married friend whose wife is making his life a living hell - to his wife.

Sympathy, psych meds and wine, your drugs
Screams, guilt and fear, your weapons
And you say you will leave him
Because he needs beer to stand you.
Go, return to your sick family
Of abusers and users like you
Tell the Facebook world every detail
As you suicide on his pain medication.
Pull that rafter from your eye, girl
Nothing is ever your fault, is it?
Maybe if you just once said "I'm sorry,"
You could begin to deserve him.

Often for the same reason a nice girl will put up with abusive men. If a person has your heart in thier hand, they can do pretty much whatever they want. If you take over someone's heart, its easy to take over thier mind and body. You won't think it can happen to you, until it does, and if it does happen you will understand why others put up with it. It takes a LOT of will power pull away from someone like that, and most people just cant. Hence the abused often returning to thier abuser.

I've seen it before. I'm always puzzled when I see a guy who looks like he has a head on his shoulders dating or married to the type you speak of. She probably has control over him in some way and has done things for him he couldn't do himself. In any case, good poem Samantha.

im sad for your friend too. im guessing she must be super hot and he is blind by her appearance or sex. YIKES ill pray for your friend. great piece. i hope he wakes up
