Bubble Bubble Change in Color

A Stage Play by Norma M Sutton
"

A dyers version of the three witches from Shakespeare's Macbeth

"
A bright glade. In the edge a vat is boiling. Under the autumn sun.

Dyer 1
Times three the spotted cat mew'd

Dyer 2 Times one the dog has barked

Dyer 3 Tis time! Tis time!

Dyer 1 Round about the washpot go
In the pecan hulls throw
Set under warm sun
Night and day times seven done
Sweltering in autumn heat
Fire burn and pot bubble smell so sweet

All
Bubble bubble change in color
Fire burn and pot bubble

Dyer 2 Fillet of hull
Roll and boil
Tumble toss leaves in more
Darker and darker the mix turns
Swirling smoke and humming bees
Kitten's paws and puppys tongue
Tempted close
To trouble come

All Bubble bubble change in color
Fire burn and pot bubble

Dyer 3
Smoke and ash
Sun and wind
Darker doth the color come
Ending with the setting sun
White ash simmering brew
Just a pinch from you to you
Skim the froth from the vat
Dip and dye batt to batt

All Bubble bubble change in color
Fire burn and pot bubble

Dyer 2
Cool some more
Submerge wool white
Changes coming by tonight
White as snow has now become
Richest brown shines under autumn sun
When the wool is cooled and spun
Brownist yarn is the outcome

I always hear the witches from Macbeth when I'm dyeing. Today was the day I used pecan hulls to dye with. Just having a little fun with this one.

This poem and photos are amazing. I'm amazed at the skill of the people of the past to survive and create such beautiful and wonderful things. I enjoy what you write. Can be more educated by reading your word. A excellent poem and photos.

That was too funny and quite creative... I love how you used the witches chant to spin to play out the dying process... now that poem had quite a spin to it, pun intended.
