Pronounced Dead

Pronounced Dead

A Poem by Tarry Franck

The sick, the ill
Come to the hospital
In hopes of being healed,
Some walk out
With joy in their step
Others may not
Because they are still in need of help,
Some may not walk out alive
Some families
Walk out feeling dread
Because their loved one is exiting
With a toe tag
Stating dead,
I'm not making light of the situation
Because it happened in my life
All too quickly
My Dad left
Pronounced dead
When he walked in alive.

Tough one for me to read... As you know i loved him very much and i still miss him every second of each passing day...As we all do... This seems like something you needed to get out on paper and i thank you for sharing it with me and everyone else.. Straight to the heart and right to the truth... Great piece

This is a huge emotional piece. This is what poetry and story telling is all about. I am amazed at the imagery I can see in this poem. great job.

Quite alright Frieda, I understand
I'm not a fan of hospital. Your poem is true. The Hospital can heal or we go to died. Memories of Hospital for me is mainly death. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Hospitals can be places of joy and tragedy. There are many who avoid hospitals because of the negative association they have with them. Your poem speaks to the sorrow when healing was the expectation and was not found. I am sorry.
