The Campaign

The Campaign

A Poem by Sara Henry Heistand

I’m not important enough

            for poems

            for songs

            for loving

            for sweet, refined things

the list gets longer

as I endorse it.

It’s all the muster of my campaign

To celebrate with champagne

Before the charity has already begun.

It’s the melted kiss before you wake up

to somebody holding you loving you

being held in your silhouette for safe

safe safekeeping. I want to be safe too.

Elect me

I could only ever be there for you.

            Love me

It is more than I could ever do.

About
It's been a while since I've written (over half a year?) and it's time for me to start up again. My life's back on the right track and now I have the time and the emotional capacity. So on with it. .. more..
