Crystal Veil

Crystal Veil

A Poem by Sarah Marie

The world is yelling loudly in my ears,
My call and cry mute as a background to the noise
Ringing loudly in my brain, the near-deafening screams all I can hear-
Thank You, Lord, for this silence.
The world is pulling me every way but to You;
I fear my limbs ripping from my sides
As they drag me to every sinful sensation they try-
Thank You, Lord, for this numbness.
The world is showing me their terrifying pleasures;
I am tied and chained, my eyes physically pried open wide
As I become witness to their culture, their choices-
Thank You, Lord, for this blindness.
Separate us, Adonai-become the crystal veil-
Deliver me to Heaven and rescue me from Hell.
