Without Angels

Without Angels

A Poem by Sarah Marie

The sky cried
Thunderstorms,
Its sadness
Far from fleeting.
It watched
Its angels
Fall and die
Because
People stopped believing.
The clouds parted
To show
The absence of a sun-
What good is light
When life
Has lost its hope?
The lightning
Beat the ground
Until the whole world
Shook
And lands scattered-
All because
The angels fell and died.
Their wings
Once shielded
The burned and bruised
Souls
That fill the earth;
Without the angels,
These people too
Will fall
And eventually die.
Their halos
Guided during the night
When secrecy was needed
To protect the weary
From the searching
Dark powers of hell;
Yet now without them,
The troubled will
Soon be found
And broken
Into submission-
Torn apart until death
Will be
Their heavy hearts.
The white robes
That covered the angels
Will be without purpose,
No longer the blanket
Of purity which covered
Those in need of love;
The matching slippers
On their pale feet
Will be forgotten,
No longer able to run
For those who are too weak.
The whole world
Felt the lost-
The despair-
The pain
When all the angels
Were forgotten-
When people stopped believing.
Don’t let the angels die.

Okay, this reminded me of Peter Pan a bit. Like when you stop believing in faeries, one of them dies. It's a great idea for you to portray the same thing, except with angels. I, myself, will NEVER stop believin in angels (or faeries). I'm sure we won't ever have to worry about angel's dying, dear Sarah, since may people out in the world believe in them. Even though angel's are based around certain religions. I sometimes like to feel that they aren't just solidly built on those religions, that they're somehow, serperate...I'm not really sure if i'm making sense and if you're religious, I apologize if I've offended you in any way. But i guess i feel like I'm wrong when I say that. Angel's are apart of God.
Sometimes I'm kind of bad with my opinion of religious things, because I believe in many things and I'm not solidly commited or extremely religious. I believe in God, yet I also believe in gods and goddesses. Anyway, I hope i made some sense (I seem to always say that in your reviews...)
This poem, I have to say, is as beautiful as an angel :)
