My Mother

Mother

within you I knew,

you would carry me through.

I was brought down to you

From the sky above

That from my first step,

I would yearned to be near you.

To a life of never ending love.

But I must leave the nest

to spread my wings

  So I thank the Lord.

Of all the things

I most adore.

You,

  Mother,

who I cherish,

ever more.

For the wisdom

And guidance

That allows me to soar.

Its always touching to read poems about Mothers. You always tend to see your own within the words. I hope she sees this poem. It is dreadful to contemplate never saying it before she dies.

This is a beautiful poem to write for you mother and I am sure she loves it. The flow was easy to follow and your gratitude is clearly shown with love.

This is a beautiful sentiment written from the depths of your heart
your words captured the love of a son for his mother
and the sad reality of leaving the safe nest to soar and discover
His own path!
excellent writing !!

Wonderful, good words, even better meaning.
very well done. Though us mothers want our children to soar, never fly to far away.

Oh Mauricio, I know your Mother had to cry when she read this. I can't think of anything more touching for a Son to say to his Mother. She did a great job of raising you! It is a lovely and endearing poem.

I lost my mother when I was 14 and she will have been gone 25 years this year. I wish I had written this for her. Just gorgeous. The feeling in it is tremendous.
