Ode
to the Ghost of Sadness
Her
pale ghost has visited me countless times
I’ve
grown almost accustomed to her presence
Every
where I go she follows me around
And
as I walk by through a loud classroom
The
people I pass stop and turn
Looking
behind me
Her
ghost stands there
The
soft translucence of her face makes it hard to tell
Exactly
what she wants and why
She
chooses to follow me around
But
oh, pale ghost of melancholy who follows me around
Whose
presence dims the very sun
Whose
softest of breaths puts out the candle
You
have grown upon me
Quiet
ghost, I would feel so terribly lonely without her
An
acquaintance from the early years of my life
Always
there and keeping me company
Walking
beside me, almost holding my hand
And
the people I talk to
Tilt
their head at me in wonder
Because
her ghost stands there
Pale
ghost, whose face is almost the color of the air
Most
would rather not have you around
But
they might not realize how important you are
Balancing
out the feelings in the world
You,
whose very presence makes people shiver
Whose
words blow away the warmth in the air
You
have grown on me
And
although I admit sometimes your presence is hard to bear
I
can’t help but look up to you
So
many people would rather have you gone
Out
of their lives never to be seen again
But
we met at an early age and you have grown on me
And
I’ll never be completely alone
Because
your ghost will always be there
