Paul whistles, moments later his horse comes trotting towards them. Greg helps him onto his steed. Rudy’s horse then appears. He swings his leg over as he mounts it. Greg looks at Paul.

“I got him tied to a tree, over yonder.” Paul motions.

“Come on, get on,” Rudy put out his hand to Greg. “I’ll get there faster.”

Paul groans in pain, his abdomen is bothering him. He breaks into a cold sweat as they ride to Greg’s horse. They look at him every groan he makes, on the way home.

Paul had broke out into a cold sweat; he shivered as he rode on.

“I think I might be coming down with something,” wiping his brow. “Could be the adrenaline wearing off too. I feel tired. So tired” His eyes drooped.

“Maybe you should have that shoulder checked out.” Greg had said.

“Yeah! That is a nasty cut.” Rudy adds.

“Aye, like I said before, it’s only a scratch.” He paused. “It doesn’t even hurt anymore, I’m fine. I just need to get some shuteye.”

When they arrived home, some villagers who made a fire were waiting on the news if they killed the beast and waiting for a trophy. Paul told them the wolf was dead; he had looked drained and a bit pale. Some have asked why they haven’t brought it back, to show what it had looked like. Some said they had never heard of a wolf to make such horrible howls.

“It was rabid, so we burned it.” Greg blurted. “There was no need to bring an infection among the village. So we burned it to a crisp.”

Paul dismounted his steed, feeling dizzy he shook his head and started for his door. Stopping and blinking his eyes, he looked up at the stars. “I don’t feel so good…” was all he had said and then collapsed.
