Death

A late night scrawl.. I don't know what this is....

Death... 
I wish it was as easy to die 
as it is to sleep, 
that we could lie down 
and have our souls taken.

 
This mortal shell 

the only thing remaining; 
to be buried and forgotten. 

But some may say 
sleeping ain't easy, 
their sleepless nights spent 
waiting for sleep to come... 

So is it easy to die 
or fall asleep? 
I know neither, 
as I wait for sleep 

to come ...

very nicely written.
You are right, at times sleep is not easy to come. There can be nothing more distressing then tossing and turning in bed and hoping to fall asleep.
Death is definitely painful but no one has returned to relate their experience about it.

Sleep and death are separated only by the quantum- the eternal variable- the constancy of time. This is an enduring trope which you've managed to put across in few words.

Studying has got nothing do with it.. In lnfact studying hard gets a reward in terms of instant sleep 😊

Very interesting piece indeed.
Allot of thoughts going through your head there while writing this it seems.
I am one of those people who doesn't find getting to sleep easy at all, it is super annoying.
In a way it kind of is easy to die when you think about it, so many things can kill you...
Spiders...
bees: if you are allergic
Car accidents, shootings.... anything really.
Anyway great write, thanks for sharing your poem and thoughts with the rest of us.

Hah well same here.. I find it difficult too.. Though maybe its due to my addiction for coffee...😉
I don't think dying is that easy.. The curiosity of what lies ahead prevents most of us to try that :p

Very nice piece.I like the connection you made. Some people wish to die in their sleep because they believe its the easiest and painless but how can we know if no one lived to tell.
