Like You

Like You

A Poem by Mimi Roberts
"

this is actually a dream I had, featuring the song "Like You" by Evanescence.

"

Stay low
Soft, dark and dreamless
Far beneath my
Nightmares and Loneliness!

Tears roll down my cheeks as I stand by you, a single flower in my hand--a purple orchid. But now you can never hold it anymore.

I hate me
For breathing without you
I don't want to
Feel anymore for you
Grieving for you
I'm not grieving for you
Nothing real love can't undo
And though I may have
Lost my way
All paths lead straight to you!

Slowly, I lower my body and sit on the ground. It was raining, and I sat in mud. The orchid got placed on the ground I sat in front of as the raindrops hid my tears.

I long to be Like You
Lie cold in the ground
Like You

You couldn't leave me like this... Why would you? I watched as the flower began to sink in a puddle of mud; like me. Like You.

Halo...
Blinding wall between us
Melt away and
Leave us alone again!

I raised a hand and drew a heart in the mud by the concrete stone that marked your resting place. I reminisced about all we were thrown through to be together, and when we finally have everything...

Humming
Haunted somewhere out there
I believe that
Love Can See Us Through
In Death

"I love you," I whispered to the flower. I know you could hear me, you haunt my thoughts every day.
I love you too.

I long to be Like You
Lie cold in the ground
Like You
There's room inside
For Two
and i'm not breathing
For You

I wanted to claw a the ground to bring you back, to hear you say I love you to me one more time. I never got a real goodbye.

I'm coming for you
You're not alone
No matter what they told you
You're not alone!
I'll be right beside you
Forevermore!

Why did you leave me? Are you hearing me still? Are you watching over my body as I plead for you to stop this sick joke and come back to me? I'm always thinking of you-- Do you think of me?

I long to be
Like You, sis!
Lie cold in the ground
Like You did!
There's room inside
For Two
an I'm not Greiving
For You

I lied my body by your grave and crid to my own slumber in the rain. I never want to leave your side again, so I ask you to lead me where you are.

And as we lay
In silent Bliss
I know you remember me..

I will never fear dying if it means I will see you once more. I lay with you tonight in my final resting place....

Like You.
