About Me

Let’s introduce myself. I was born in a sociable farmer’s village in far far Belgium, but 5 years ago I discovered the only belgian city where I really feel at home: Brussels, the heart of Europe. I absolutely love the international feeling here and the fact that I make a lot of foreign friends. And I can proudly state that it is in Brussels that I stopped being the typical, closed, unfriendly flemish person that a lot of tourists describe after visiting Belgium.

I was born two weeks late, therefore my horoscope is the husband of the cow. I myself am not a cow, but nevertheless I’m female. One could say I’m rather long and weigh too little. My eyes are very good at staring and daydreaming, and my hair is very scared of the hairdresser.

If I had to describe myself in a couple of words, they would be: outsider, left-handed, born optimist, melomane, hardworking, extremely obstinate, slightly timid, and incredibly tranquil

I study clarinet and music writing (not composition) at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels. Apart from everything that has to do with music and art, my second passion is languages. My mother tongue is Dutch/Flemish. I learned English, French and German in school. I learned Spanish all by myself (with many thanks to some great friends and penpals), am now starting to master Portuguese, and beginning with Italian.

Furthermore, I like discovering Europe, walking barefoot in the grass, train travelling (which I call 'training'), wandering around in libraries, the smell of a freshly mowed lawn, a strong coffee in the morning, rain on my face after a hot summer day,…

I’m the person in the group that doesn’t fit in, but doesn’t stand out either. My clothing style is quite conservative, in natural colors (mostly beige, blue, and grey). My biggest goal is not to be like other people, not to follow the latest fashion,… To be unique.

About my writings: I usually write poetry, though occasionally I try short stories (which tend to have a great beginning but a very crappy ending, which is the reason I won't share them with you). My poems can be in any of the languages I know, whaterever comes into my mind.

Gioacchino Rossini once said: "Datemi il conto della lavandaia e vi metto in musica anche quello." Give me the laundry bill, and I'll put it to music. That's how I work. Give me a word and I'll make a piece of art (in any form) out of it.
