Hailey Bruce

My name is Hailey and I'm a sophomore at Denison University double majoring in dance and creative writing with a possible minor in history or philosophy. I don't believe that people can be summed up in one of these about sections. I don't think that the phrase "in a nutshell" can apply to something as complex and intriguing as a human. But I'll certainly try.

I'm a floater. I'm the sort of person that has friends throughout every social group. I'm also the sort of person that attracts very sweet, but sometimes painfully awkward people. The only thing I don't attract is boys. If anyone has a good track record with setting people up together... you can just get right on that.

I'm an optimist. I'm happy because I choose to be. There is truly a bright side to everything, and wasting time complaining doesn't get you anywhere. If something upsets me, I let it go, and find a fresh way to look at it. I don't have bad days and I don't get stressed - unless I'm late - because I don't want to be. Simple as that. I laugh nearly constantly and smile even more.

I'm an artist. I will always call myself a dancer first. Dance is what I do. But I'm also a writer, a singer, an actress, a seamstress, a crafter, a photographer, and just about anything else you can think of.

I'm a person of the past in just about every way. My interests lie in history rather than technology. I'd rather learn about what already happened than wonder about what's next. I'm a nostalgic, a memory-capturer, an old-fashioned moralist. I believe in proper courtship, and having good, strong values. I'm conservative and proud of it.

This has only brushed the tip of the iceberg, but I guess the best way to sum me up is to say that, no matter what, no matter when, no matter where, I am always truly myself. I don't have multiple sides. I don't hide who I am to fit in. I'm me, through and through, and that's just how I want it to be.
