About MeCarl Aabye has worked hard for much of his life, and has "finagled some, too" as he puts it. He's a thinking man inside of a working man, an Eric Hoffer sort of guy, who sees the workingman's point of view. He adds, "I don't always take the beaten pat; I'd rather take the road less traveled."
Somethimes his questioning has created consternation among teachers and critics alike. In Terrorists Among Us, Carl writes his story of a band of "young warriors", who travel half the world round on a quest to right perceived injustices. This comes from their strong - in fanatical faith, for they are fundamentalists, and militant. They are trained; but what they discover is that the world is not just as they had believed. "As a growing boy I had a contrary nature, which is like a double edged sword now. If someone said 'white' to me, I replied 'black'." "When you squeeze a balloon in one spot it generally buldges out in another; and when a journalist wrote articles in praise of 'matricula consular', a special program to aid illegals, I felt pressure to counter with my own working man's viewpoint. This was teh seed that gave rise to this book." http://search.barnesandnoblecom/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9780970111944&itm=1 Comments
