1st Short Story Writing Championship  November 1, 2007 - November 30, 2007

I was thinking of creating a short story contest with a combination of creative parameters. Well, I think this will be fun, creative and challenging! The rules are simple.

1. You must write a short story 1.000 words minimum � 5.000 words maximum.

2. You should pick one genre for your story from these:

COMEDY
EPIC
FANTASY
HORROR
MYSTERY
ROMANTIC
SCIENCE FICTION
THRILLER


3. You should pick at least 3 characters from these:

ARTIST
DETECTIVE
DOCTOR
GHOST
JOURNALIST

NOBLEMAN
POLITICIAN
PRINCE
PRINCESS
QUEEN
SCIENTIST
SECRET AGENT

WITCH / SORCERER


4. You should pick at least one place to develop the plot of your story from these:

MANOR

VILLAGE



5. You should choose at least 2 of these concepts for your story:

GREED
HAUNTING
JEALOUSY
MURDER
POLTERGEIST
PSYCHOSIS
TRANSFORMATION
VISIONS

You get:

1. 300 points for each character. You may use at least 3 or more from the characters list. If you use a character which is not listed, your story will be disqualified.

2. 150 points for each place. You may use at least 1 or more from the places list. If you use a place which is not listed, your story will be disqualified.

3. 500 points for each concept. You may use at least 2 or more from the concepts list. If you use a concept which is not listed, your story will be disqualified.

4. The words of your story are counted as points. For example, a 1.500 word story with 3 characters, 1 place, 2 concepts gets 1.500+300X3+150+500X2=3.550 total points.

Who Wins:

The top 5 stories in total points will qualify to the final and we will vote for the winner!
